Weekend

Last weekend Bluet was visited by her cousins Nate and Lila (and their parents). It was extremely fun to have some people to hang out with here. You can read more, and see more photos here.

Bluet was particularly fond of following Nate around, and now if we ask her 'is Bluet a big girl?', she says 'no, Lila's a big girl'. We spent most of the time at the pool, where Bluet was excited to see that both she and Nate had goggles.

We also went out to eat, made BBQ food, and then went to the pool again. Bluet is probably about to sprout gills.

New classroom, and other photos

This week, Bluet started in her new classroom - she goes from being the oldest in her class (some other kids still can't walk) to being the youngest. So far she has done pretty well with the changes - the teachers tell us she is settling in.

Anyway, here she is ready for her first day in the new class:

Also, last week, Bluet learnt all about fire hydrants

Tables

Bluet has recently been sitting on an ordinary chair at our ordinary table to eat. She has also discovered the joys of tables, and the things other than eating that they can be used for, viz:

Conversation

On passing a person on a bicycle this morning on the way to school:

"Bluet ride a bycle too"

"Does Bluet ride fast?"

"No, Bluet ride slow"

Bluet at the Gallery

On Sunday after chatting to Uncle Simon, Bluet needed to go outside. With the sky darkening and rain imminent, we went to the sculpture garden at the Museum of Fine Art, where Bluet ran around and critiqued the art, mainly by running towards the sculptures really fast and trying to touch them before I could stop her - fortunately I managed to stop her every time.

Then it began to rain harder so we went home.

Eating at the table

We decided it was time that Bluet ate dinner at the table with us. This involved 1) moving the table into the living room (we've been eating at the breakfast bar and using the table as a 'desk' and storage area), and 2) taking down Bluet's old seat. Since then, Bluet has happily been sitting and eating at the table, even climbing onto her chair when hungry, then waiting patiently for us to bring her her food.

At the park

We've been trying to find the bit of Houston that is most like Austin, which took us to the heights. There we found a rather fine wooden playground, which Bluet enjoyed. Because she hasn't been on a swing for ages, or because this was the first time she really worked out how to use a big girl swing, Bluet swung for about 30 minutes non stop. She even began to use her legs properly. You can watch on this eternally repeating video - I suggest you un-mute the sound

Then she ran around for a little bit, before returning to the swing, and then we headed home.
