Kids in America

So right now Emily is in Missouri with Wilder and Ilona - Bluet and I will be joining them on Friday, when Bluet's 2 week autumn holiday starts. This is, of course, Wilder's first visit, despite being the proud holder of a US passport. He slept and ate perfectly on his first flight, whilst Ilona watched 8 hours of 'the hive' a bee-based kids cartoon. Here he is on his first trip, and Ilona too. Despite the lighting in the photograph, I understand Ilona is fully adapted to American time, but it has thrown Wilder's schedule (i.e. a long night time sleep) off a little.

Although Bluet is enjoying the peace and quiet at home, when Bluet spoke on the phone to Emily a few times she explicitly asked to speak to Ilona, which was sweet.

Wilder has grown 7cm since he was born and now almost weighs 11lbs. He has slept through the night (more or less) 3 times

this picture Bluet painted now hangs on the wall over her bed, so I think she was rather happy with it

Flea market

Turns out, having 3 kids is pretty busy.

A couple of Saturdays ago there was a local children's flea market, which seemed the perfect opportunity for the (big) kids to downsize their considerable toy collections, by selling some toys (5 each) which they no longer played with, on the promise they could keep the money they raised. Unfortunately it rained so it was inside and we lost the walk by, spontaneous traffic: And most of what we sold was old clothes they had grown out of. And then the money raised, Bluet bought a cow based xylophone, which she loves, whilst Ilona purchased the ugliest soft toy you've ever seen. Still, it taught them a valuable lesson about the value money. Or something.

Here they are sitting and selling

Smiling Wildy

Untitled

Wilder's development is going well - he grew a whole cm last week, his head seems to be getting bigger (and seems a more realistic size, I mean, how can a baby's head be so small?) and also has begun to smile more frequently once he has eaten (as long as his nappy is also clean). He is also starting to grab at stuff, and enjoy his tummy time
