This last week we braved corona virus and long drives with kids in the car to meet up with Emily’s family at a house on Beech Mountain in North Carolina. This was tremendous fun for everyone, and the kids didn’t even complain about going for hikes in the woods, probably because their cousins were there. Also the house had a hot tub where they all spent hours.
In the car yesterday:
W: ‘Wayne is my Grandad’
Me: ‘yes he is, and so is Andrew’
W: ‘no he isn’t’
Me: ‘yes he is’
W: ‘Oh’
Me: ‘Who is Andrew’
W: ‘He’s my Grandad’
Me: ‘and Wayne’
W: ‘he’s my grandad too’
Me: ‘yes, you have two Grandads. And Nana is your Grandma’
W: ‘No she isn’t’
Me: ‘then who is Nana?’
W: ‘Nana is Nana’
Me: ‘and who is Gran Helen?’
W: ‘Chris Walker’
True story.
One of wilder’s favourite activities these days is to draw with chalk whenever and wherever. He often draws family members - can you recognise who is who?
Here is Wilder jumping in Muddy Puddles. The weather has taken a turn for the wet, and it even snowed today (though it didn't settle). Gran Helen said it reminded her of the video of Bluet below it:
The months of September and October the girls get to play hockey a few times a week. Yesterday they got to play for the towns of Redding and Easton against Newtown - you can maybe pick them out here in the distance. They won both the games they played (7 a side) and therefore it was about the most fun they’ve ever had playing a sport. Also Wilder pulling some silly faces while we watched, and Ilona and Wilder at hockey a previous weekend
For some reason I don’t understand kids these days think it’s a tremendous treat to get to wear pajamas all day and today they even got to wear them to school. Strange times.
