10!

This weekend Bluet turned 10 (ten!). We had a small celebration with cake etc in the evening with another family, and Bluet spent most of the rest of the day using her new roller blades.

Bluet’s Birthday

So far Bluet has spent her 9 Bithdays in Central Park, Houston, Switzerland, The Outer Hebrides, Connecticut and in quarantine. This one I think will be pretty memorable. We even had some socially distant visitors (neither family has seen anyone else for over 2 weeks so they cycled over and kept their distance to wish Bluet Happy Birthday). Bluet even helped make her cake.

Then because children can't have birthday parties right now, the local town laid on a surprise drive by for us (and all kids with birthdays, if you ask). Apparently it is good practice for them and pretty exciting for the kids (and parents)

Ilona's 6th Birthday

A month ago now Ilona celebrated her 6th Birthday. This was at the cabins with all the american cousins. As well as Ilona, this also made Wilder very happy as the Happy Birthday song is his favourite, and he loves cake!

Happy B’day Wilder

Also while we were away it was Wilder's second birthday - or H'py B'dy Wilder, as he called it. He'd first heard the happy birthday song a few days before and wanted to hear it again and again so of course he was thrilled when he heard it for his birthday. He also really liked the cake.

My Birthday 2019

Near our house is Putnam park, where there was a large encampment of American soldiers during one winter of the revolutionary war. The rocks in the photos with Bluet are the remains of the chimneys of these tiny huts that slept 12 soldiers each. Anyway, it has a museum that has been closed since Labour Day last year, and opened again on Memorial Day, which was my Birthday. As the school was closed because of Memorial Day, we took the kids, and Emily's friend and her mother who were visiting to check it out.

On the way home from dinner we stopped for ice cream at a roadside ice cream shop. For some reason Bluet needed to lie down right next to the road while we waited

All the kids at the park

We went to a restaurant for a birthday dinner (I had the impossible burger 2.0), but while we were waiting for the food Wilder was pretty bored, so I took him back out to our car where he could do some driving. This kept him entertained.
