Where everything is bigger
So we are all now together again in Texas. It is abnormally hot for winter, and it seems strange to be able to see palm trees outside the window. Bluet likes going to daycare, but runs immediately over to Emily when she comes to pick her up. She is getting more and more talkative by the day, can count to ten, and knows almost all the letters. She also likes going in the car, I hope that that novelty doesn't wear off anytime soon. The postings of pictures, audio and video will resume shortly. The following are pictures of Houston from a couple of weeks ago, including a trip to the Zoo where we overheard a Texas man explaining to his children that the meerkat acting as a lookout was a Republican, whilst all the meerkats lazing around were Democrats.
Bluet loves crawling inside this clear tube that goes underwater past the fishes |
I am pretty sure that Bluet would happily watch these jellyfish all day |
At Ikea, Bluet chose an abacus for herself |

Moom
On Saturday evening we walked around our new apartment complex and Bluet saw the moon. This is what she thought about it:

Bluet in Houston
Here is Bluet in Houston from this weekend, getting in touch with her Scottish heritage by finding a statue of Rabbie Burns in the rose garden in the park near our new house. So at least we have somewhere to eat our haggis on Burn's night. Wee timorous cowering beastie, etc etc.

Airports
Sorry for the lack of blogs. We've been busy first in Houston and now we are off to Missouri for thanksgiving. Last week's trip was fine except for the very beginning, when the plane bluet and I were traveling on was delayed by three hours. I don't know if you've ever entertained an 18 month old at an airport for three hours, but it is tough, especially if the airport is as rubbish as laguardia. Fortunately bluet is growing up fast and was extremely well behaved. The airport kindly provided racks of application forms for credit cards at bluet height which she was happy to rearrange. She took them out and put them back in a new, abstract order. When we did get on the plane we both fell asleep for the majority of the 4 h flight.
We also discovered Houston has a fine zoo, and located a new house.
Back in New York it is cold, so Bluet wears then quickly removes her winters clothes. Stay tuned for thanksgiving photos.
