Niagara Falls

If we go to any state other than NY, NJ or Rhode Island our kids have to take 2 weeks off of school or have a negative COVID test. However, we can drive 6 1/2 miles North to Niagara Falls with no consequences, so that's what we did this weekend. Bluet has been wanting to go for ages, and the girls had a long weekend off school, so it was the perfect opportunity. And although it was very cold, there was little complaining - we even got the kids to walk the mile from our hotel to the falls (well, Wilder rode on my shoulders). It was pretty spectacular as you can see, especially when we got down below the falls in the 'Cave of the Wind), where all the rocks were covered in alien-looking ice. And there was a rainbow in the mist. Pretty weird looking and spectacular. Unfortunately we did not get to go to Canada (that would count as leaving NY/NJ/CT/RI, and we're pretty sure the border is closed), but we could see it just the other side of the Niagara River.

Walking Wilder

Sometimes we take the dog for a walk, and sometimes the dog takes Wilder for a walk

 

Too much snow/igloos

Recently we have had way to much snow (last snowfall, which is mostly still here, we got approx 18"), which does entertain the kids for about 1 day, and we did manage to make an igloo (and the girls dug some snow tunnels), but otherwise it gets a little boring constantly having to plough the drive.

Here is Wilder, early the other evening, when it had been snowing and he had just got home from daycare. He was enjoying the snow, although it was only a couple of centimetres

And this is what Bluet has been trying to achieve for a while, but finally she's sat still enough for long enough with her legs stretched out enough for Willow to come sit on her

Wilder saw this on an advert on the tv and it was the first time he’d ever even paid attention to an advert and he told us he needed it so how could we resist?

 Ilona went straight for the biggest parcel because she knew it had her barbie dream house in it
