Fun things Wilder does

Wilder these days is getting pretty entertaining. Here are some of the fun things he does. Also we just this week transferred him from crib to real bed, so he really is growing up.

Hobby #1, running around with any large stick shaped thing, the longer and more unweildy, the better

Asking to eat by saying 'Eat, eat', then eating all his food, especially if it is raspberries

Hobby #2 - swinging

He is also starting to really like his sisters, especially Ilona as her name ('Nona') is easier to say than Bluet's. He points and says 'Nona' a lot. Here he briefly joined them to watch TV.

Outside. Wilder likes outside. If he wants to go outside he says 'outside' while handing you either his jacket or your shoes, like a dog. He is a big fan of the moon ('moom').

While eating he also likes to try and feed some to you, unless it is raspberries, which he will not share

Outside

When you say 'bath' Wilder runs upstairs to his bath. While in the bath if you say 'bum' he will squirt soap on the floor then stand up and pat his bottom to wash it. We then get him out when he starts splashing.

Any other adult sized tools are of great interest.

Visitors

This last weekend we had our first visitors from Europe, Andrew and Maria. As you can see, Wilder was very taken with Andrew (and wore him out by playing with taps/light switches/the microwave). We took a couple of walks in the woods in snow, went out for some delicious food, and even constructed a rudimentary igloo and two fine snowmen. We also did some DIY and took out the old doors from the baths in the upstairs bathrooms, which now look much bigger. PS we are getting bored of the snow.

Science Fair

I just found this unpublished post from the science fair back in January (I think). Ilona wanted something rainbow based, so did some chromatography on pen colours, while Bluet grew crystals from different kinds of salt - epsom salt worked best. If you download and enlarge her poster it contains all the details needed to repeat her experiments. They both had fun and got a certificate.

Snow ball

Last weekend there was a fund raising event for Bluet and Ilona's school, formerly called the snow ball, but as you can see now more like a glow ball. When not eating pasta and pizza, Bluet spend most of her time dancing, while Ilona spent it either running around with her friend Meredith, or trying to find Meredith again after they had become separated. They both already asked to go again next year. The dress Bluet wore belonged to Emily when she was a kid.

Mud day

Right now everything is covered in snow and ice, but a couple of weeks ago we brought the logs from recently chopped down trees (and Wilder) up to the house to burn to keep us warm (the logs, not Wilder). Then he ran around and got very muddy.

Nana and Wayne return

2 weekends ago Nana and Wayne returned to Connecticut, presumably because they had so much fun before. This time there was ice and snow as we went on a walk in the nearby woods, and we even got a baby sitter for the first time here so we could go out and eat Thai food. Also, we managed to get Emily's old bunk bed restored and upstairs for Ilona to sleep on once we've found a mattress. This involved cutting the legs off and reattaching them as the staircases and doorways are considerably narrower in Connecticut than Missouri. Also, Wilder was particularly taken with Wayne this time, as you can maybe see.
