Today for Halloween, Bluet went to school as ladybird girl, star of bedtime favourites reads the ladybird girl books. This is what those ladybird wellies were purchased for. We also carved her a 'Jackern Lantern' which she is very excited about.
Happy Halloween!

The Gallery
Note train ticket in right hand, raisins in left |
For a while now Bluet has been very much into art. This weekend the weather has been somewhat wet, so we got down the playdoh and got out the pens. When not sticking playdoh to the wall or drawing on the wall, this is what Bluet has produced recently. For full effect, play the video at the bottom of the page whilst browsing the art*
*this will only make sense if you are British. Otherwise, it will appear merely pointless.

If only she would remember to put the lids back on the pens. Then we would have more working pens. |

San Antonio
This weekend we went to San Antonio, a brisk 3 hour drive from Houston. I had my first experience of motorway driving, which went well, even if it was a white knuckle ride for me. Anyway, once we got there we checked in to the Crockett Hotel, named after Davy Crockett who died at the Alamo - San Antonio is a tourist trap of a town, where everyone comes to see the Alamo (where there was a big battle where some proto-Texans lost to some Spaniards) and then stays to enjoy the river. The Alamo is in very nice gardens, which Bluet enjoyed running around. And some 'candons' which she liked sitting on. She also loved the river walk, as on Saturday morning there was hardly anyone there so she could walk along walls to her heart's content. We also went on a river boat, which we thought she would really enjoy, which she did for a small number of minutes. She did enjoy going under bridges though. Then on Sunday before we headed home we went to see San Antonio's answer to the space needle. We didn't actually go up but Bluet had a great time playing in the mud in her ladybird wellies (see every picture), and Upsy Daisy was never far behind (see every picture).

Saturday was Crazy People day at the Alamo. Where do you get a flag with a gun on it, do you think? |

Star Student
Here is Bluet's completed star student form. I asked her on two different occasions what her favourite colour is and she said 'orange' so that must be accurate. And she is obsessed with 'in the night garden' and fruit. But she has never watched a film, so we had to leave that blank. We then let Bluet decorate the form.
Conversation #4
This morning as I was looking for something for Bluet to wear she told me 'I need my Cardinals shirt'. Fortunately it was clean and in the drawer so I put it on her. She then ran about saying 'Go Cardinals'. You would think there was some kind of big game tonight or something.

IKEA arrow day
Earlier this week we passed an arrow and Bluet asked 'what's that' so I told her. I didn't think much of it, but this morning we went for a walk and Bluet was fascinated by all the arrows she saw. It was difficult to get her down from the big arrow - a feat only possible by promising we would see more arrows. You will notice that Bluet also has a rather fine pair of new wellies with ladybird faces on them. She no longer wants to wear any other shoes. As you can see. Later on we went to Ikea, and Bluet took off the boots in order to lie in the bed. After that, we went to the Children's Museum which had all sorts of halloween activities set up. Bluet painted her own face and really enjoyed 'trick or treating' the people who work at the museum, who were giving sweets to all the kids. So far, she has eaten one trick-or-treated chocolate.
