York

IMG_5666

I finally uploaded the York photos. Here they are. Firstly, on the Sunday we went to the Railway museum with Nick and Andrew (but sans the littlest kids, Emily and Angela). It was great, and apparently ok to touch the locomotives

This guitar was a popular toy (and there was a lot of dressing up going down)

Oldish video

Here is a video of Bluet outside the hotel we stayed in in Salzburg, just before Christmas, that I found on my phone yesterday - enjoy

.....LIVE UPDATE......

Bluet is currently on a mountain somewhere outside of Zurich, learning how to ski. According to Emily she is doing very well because she knows everything about skiing having watched Peppa Pig, (including that you can ski in a dress)

UPDATE.....BREAKING  NEWS......UPDATE

They are on their way home. Bluet wants to go again, and can't wait to get ski poles

York one

So it is just over a week since we flew back from a brief trip to York to visit Simon, Angela, Della and Gus (and Andrew, Nick and Gran Helen).

Some of the things we did included:

visiting the railway museum (which you pretty much have to do if you go to York). Note that this photo was liked by the national railway museum, tacit approval of kids touching the exhibits.

Oh. The rest of my photos have not uploaded. Be back soon.......

River walk

This is what our kids wear to go throw stones in the river.

Also today we discovered that Wagamamma in Zurich has a children's play area (as well as good Japanese food), so that was good. And then right next door to it is a botanical garden.

Last weekend it rained

image

Last weekend it rained most of the time which made it difficult to entertain, but we did our best. In brief periods of 'sun' they were excited to go outside - Bluet was so proud of this tower she built, she ran downstairs to find me to ask me to take a photo of it

image image

But by Sunday we needed to go further afield, so given the weather we did a family brunch at PQ, which was really fun, as finally Bluet and Ilona are more or less happy to sit in their chair in a restaurant for as long as it takes us to eat our meal.

Although getting Ilona to stay in her seat on the tram was a different matter

Waiting to go to school

image
image

Every morning at around 8.10 Bluet meets her friends Louis and Francisco, and they walk to school together without adult supervision. This usually requires picking up sticks and scrambling through brush, getting muddy in the process, but somehow they haven't been late to school yet. Anyway in the morning we wait with Bluet at the post box, and entertainment is found behind and in between the recycling bins and by climbing on roadsigns.

On Wednesday, for Carnival, Bluet got to dress up for School; she was very excited to go as a princess
