America Day Part 1

The 4th of July has rolled around again, giving us a day off work and Bluet a day off school to celebrate Britain becoming independent from America. This morning has been fairly laid back, mainly because Bluet was so excited for this day of celebration that she awoke at 5.30am (a very unusual occurrence, fortunately). We started with a swim (no-one else was up so we had the pool to ourselves for the whole time, which was nice as Bluet mainly wanted to 'do a big splash' and jump in the pool over and over).

Meanwhile, Emily was upstairs baking a very patriotic cake. Bluet was enlisted to help with the icing. She licked the bowl so clean I was able to put it back the cupboard without washing it.

Later, we will go out looking for flags and other signs of patriotism and celebration.
