As if that wasn't enough excitement

Untitled

Andrew and Maria came last Thursday (so 2 days after we returned from Cambridge): While they were here we fitted in a trip to the botanical gardens and a ride on a carousel, as well as a civilised meal in a nice restaurant. We've not been to the Botanical Gardens before so it was great to discover a place in Zurich that is open on Sundays, free and of interest to parents and children

Here Andrew is reading the Giant Jam Sandwich, a popular choice when we were kids too

Cambridge IV

Monday was our last day in Cambridge (we flew back Tuesday). There was time to go see where I grew up and our old house, and in the afternoon, a trip to Cambridge's dinosaur museum, because Bluet loves dinosaur museums.

All in all, an exhausting (but fun) few days

Cambridge III

As if that wasn't enough, Saturday night Simon drove down with Della and Gus. Sunday was spent wandering around Cambridge, including a stop at Wagamama for a delicious Japanese lunch. This began with a 10K race passing more or less right in front of Gran Helen's house. Bluet and Della helped boost the runners energy as you can see

Again, Bluet and Ilona loved having other kids to play with.  There was time to feed the ducks, and Bluet even made some paper flowers for Della to take home

Then on Saturday the first of our visitors - Steve, Dorthea, Caroline and Madeleine drove up for the day from Wroughton, and we took the opportunity to recreate our student days. With kids. We strangely managed to go into the Fellow's garden at King's, which was perfect for the kids to run around as it was empty and spacious.

Cambridge I

For the last couple of weeks it has been Bluet's half term holiday. Last weekend I took her and Ilona to Cambridge while Emily was in Boston on a business trip. It was a busy few days.....

On Friday we headed to Zurich airport nice and early in the morning. Here the kids are enjoying breakfast

The flight was uneventful, and we got through security and collected our bags in record time (~15 minutes after disembarking), allowing us to catch a bus from Luton to Cambridge 2 hours earlier than expected. Thus it felt like we had an extra day of holiday.
here we are at Gran Helen's house, elegantly eating soup

And then in the afternoon we had time to go for a walk across Cambridge, taking time to stop and look for conkers along the way

To the post office!
