Last night and this morning

Last night after school and before dinner it was moderately warm so we went outside and played some sport - Bluet played tennis, Wilder football and Ilona basketball. Then this morning - Wilder's long naps at school are meaning he keeps on waking up (and waking us) around 4AM, so we asked his day care to shorten his nap time. This means he needs something quiet to do when he is woken up and the other kids are sleeping. So now he goes to his school with a school bag, filled with books and duplo and cars. As you can see he would very much like to ride the school bus too,  but the bag is good enough for now.

World Cup Fever 3

Yes, we all still have world cup fever. Here are Bluet and Ilona getting ready the morning of the last England game by opening football stickers, and the football sticker book Bluet made for herself. If you as Bluet about it, she will tell you that England win a lot, which I fear has given her unrealistic expectations.

World Cup Fever keeps on going

Bluet even came downstairs from her bed when she heard the cheer as England scored in the second half. She was not subjected to the trauma of the penalty shoot out, which was less traumatic than normal. Bluet and Ilona are also enjoying the football stickers.

Wilder meanwhile is sadly too young to be enjoying the best world cup since 1990, but here he is in the bath

Bunk beds

Untitled

4(?) weeks ago, we headed to Ikea, and purchased a bunk bed for Bluet and Ilona, so now they share the same room. This is going well, most of the time, although now Ilona can get out of the bottom bunk by herself, every morning she comes and wakes us up.  Here they are at ikea (we've been two times already since we got back. One time we hired a car through a car sharing scheme. Bluet was very excited that we had a new red car).

Now they go to bed in the same room, they also take their bath together every night - here they are in the bath together

Bluet also started playing indoor football every Thursday. Here she is after the game, once she had 'run out of power', having some water before heading home

And finally, from last week, here they are celebrating Emily's birthday the only way they know how - with cupcakes

This weekend

On Saturday it was a family trip to the city. After visiting a Swiss car boot sale equivalent near the lake (it was very posh. Lots of bad oil painting) we headed up the posh shopping street (Banhofstrasse, literal translation, Train Station Street), where Ilona perched on a posh shop window, then Bluet had to too, but obviously as far away as possible

On Sunday we went to the local school playground to play football and scoot

Last weekend in video

This is mostly what we did last weekend - including trying to get Ilona to say 'go away' as often as possible because we think it is very funny. She probably picked it up from Bluet

Activities

As I mentioned there is a playground so near to our house it would be a shame not to use it when school is out. So we've been there a couple of times recently to scoot or play football, but all Bluet wants to do is sit or stand and watch this clock move, as the big hand moves one notch once a minute. She stands there until the big hand gets to the bottom (or wherever we said it would go to determine when we head home), and as Bluet obviously won't leave until the big hand reaches the aforementioned position, it is quite boring. However, it does give Ilona a chance to improve her football skills, whilst I always know the exact time by keeping track of the number of times Bluet says "look Dadn, the hand moved", which happens once a minute

Ball Ball Ball, Footie Footie Football

Very very near our house there is a school with a playground which is open for playing in when school is out. It is a nice big area for Bluet to practise scootering, and there are goals for learning valuable football skills. I am very proud of how good Bluet has got at dribbling and kicking the ball, and it doesn't look like Ilona will be far behind.

This weekend

we had nothing big planned, so just walked about a lot. On Saturday we went to Central Park, but it was mostly shut so that Neil Young and the Foo Fighters could make poverty history (although if you have to listen to the Foo Fighters to make poverty history, I might not bother). So instead we went downtown to where you get the ferry to Staten Island and walked around a bit. Bluet was happy as she could play in the dirt. If you squint you can even see the Statue of Liberty in the background of some of these photos.

Today, I took Bluet to play football in the park - she is very good and I am very proud, as you can see from this video of Bluet dribbling better than many adults I know (NB this is not a pun).

After that (and Bluet's nap), we went shopping to get some smart clothes for Bluet for a Wedding  we are going to next week, so I expect there will be some photos of that too.

On the way home, Saturday

This is the lawn where they tried to make poverty history (afterwards, on Sunday AM). The stage is in the background

Bluet was allowed to walk free down Park Avenue.

(BTW the audio of Bluet saying 'no way' has been added to the last post here: http://bluet2011.blogspot.com/2012/09/highly-recommended-things-to-watch-and.html
Well worth checking out)
