A new career in a new town

I think that the thing that made the biggest impression on Bluet and Ilona about New York was those street artists who draw (almost good) pictures of tourists (that look a bit like the subject) in Central Park. When we got back they took turns of posing for and being drawn by each other. Here is Bluet's picture of Ilona, I will update with Ilona's picture of Bluet if/when I find it






While drawing they had a discussion of future careers. Ilona says she wants to be an artist while Bluet wants to be a scientist as she thinks that is more fun, for some reason

Cartooning

A couple of days ago, Bluet drew this Charlie Brown and Snoopy cartoon. I think she has almost mastered the form. Ilona likes to ask to watch Charlie Brown at every opportunity (when she isn't asking for Peppa Pig)

English Pub

So there I was, thinking that I didn't really have anything to document from this last weekend because I was away for a 1 day conference on Saturday, and then on Sunday we didn't really do anything or take any pictures. But then today I was downloading photos from my phone and noticed that actually we had been to an English pub on Friday (you can tell it is English because there is a red phone box and a giant chess set, just like all English pubs in England). Anyway, Bluet loves the giant chess set. At first she had to watch people playing a serious game, but once she had picked up the basic moves of chess, she was able to play against herself. She was particularly fond of the 'white horse' and 'black horse'. Must be the way they can move in an 'L' shape.
